Grupo Lantero has been awarded in the Large Company category of the 5th Ecodesign Competition, organized by the CONAMA Foundation, one of the most prestigious competitions in its field. The award recognizes its innovative resealable single-material container made from 100% PET, a solution that stands out for its commitment to sustainability, high recyclability, and functional design, marking a milestone in the packaging sector.

The award was collected by Ana Rivas, Corporate Sustainability Manager at Grupo Lantero, and presented by Xavier Gabarell Durany, Vice-Rector for Campus and Sustainability at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, who was also a member of the jury alongside Sofía Garín, Senior Project Manager at Inèdit, and Andrés Fernández, CEO of Ciudadano Kane.
During the ceremony, they highlighted the importance of Grupo Lantero’s proposal as a significant step towards the transition to a circular and sustainable economy. The award-winning packaging, consisting of a rigid tray and a resealable flexible lid, extends the shelf life of food thanks to its reusable airtight seal, which contributes significantly to reducing food waste. In addition, as it is made from a single material (100% PET), it optimizes recycling, minimizes environmental impact (as it can incorporate recycled material), and facilitates waste management throughout the value chain.
A STEP TOWARDS ECODESIGN AND THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY

Grupo Lantero’s proposal underscores its commitment to sustainability and eco-design, offering a more responsible and efficient alternative to conventional multi-material packaging, especially for fresh products that require preservation in protective atmospheres or vacuum packaging. The project stands out for its innovative approach and its ability to contribute to a more circular economic model, in which eco-design plays a key role.
