Coexpan and Emsur present at Interpack their latest innovations and receive two WorldStar Packaging Awards

The teams of Coexpan and Emsur, Lantero Group companies, have participated in a new edition of Interpack, the world’s leading trade fair for the packaging industry, in a particularly memorable edition marked by innovation, industry collaboration and international recognition.

In the framework of this event, both companies have been awarded two WorldStar Packaging Awards, one of the most prestigious global awards in the sector, in recognition of their joint solution ReKeepEat, consolidating their leadership in the development of sustainable and innovative solutions.

The proposal, developed jointly by Coexpan (rigid packaging) and Emsur (flexible packaging) at its Innotech innovation center, has been distinguished with the WorldStar Innovation Award for taking mono-materiality and functionality to a new level, as well as a special award in the “Save Food” category for its ability to protect food and contribute to waste reduction thanks to its resealable closure system.

“This award is the validation of a way of understanding packaging, where innovation, customer proximity and continuous improvement are key. Behind it there is talent, teamwork and the ambition to continue raising the industry standard with solutions that make a difference,” says Bárbara Ruiz Calavera, Director of Communication and Marketing at Grupo Lantero.

During the fair, Coexpan and Emsur presented their latest innovations aimed at optimizing the overall packaging system, advancing sustainability and improving industrial efficiency, demonstrating how both companies manage to integrate and complement rigid and flexible packaging to achieve unique solutions.

Innovations that make a difference

Among the most outstanding developments presented at Interpack were:
  • ReKeepEat (Coexpan & Emsur): 100% PET single-material resealable solution that promotes recycling, allows the incorporation of recycled material and extends the shelf life of food, reducing waste and improving the consumer experience.
  • rPS Food (Coexpan): innovative solution that incorporates up to 100% post-consumer recycled polystyrene suitable for food contact in packaging for FFS and thermoforming processes. This innovation drives a real “cup-to-cup” circularity model , in which the mechanical recycling of polystyrene within our closed cycle gives a new life to a yogurt container, significantly reducing the use of virgin raw material.
  • PP Easy Form (Coexpan), a solution that facilitates the substitution of polystyrene for polypropylene in FFS processes, without compromising industrial performance or packaging quality.
  • PP banner (Emsur): polypropylene-based structure designed for decorative applications that optimizes packaging while maintaining material consistency, facilitating recyclability and adaptation to new regulatory frameworks.

These two innovations allow us to offer our customers single-material solutions for PP streamers, lids and cups for FFS.

All these solutions respond to a growing market demand: to combine sustainability, efficiency and functionality without compromising performance or production processes.

“At Coexpan, we understand innovation as the ability to transform complex packaging challenges into practical, scalable solutions that create value across the industry. Our commitment is focused on developing advanced materials and high-performance packaging structures that support the transition to a more circular economy, while maintaining production efficiency, operational reliability and the highest standards of packaging performance. Through continuous research, technology development and close collaboration with our partners, we strive to deliver sustainable solutions that meet changing market demands and contribute to a more responsible and resilient packaging industry,” highlights Iain Sturges, Coexpan’s Commercial Director.

Real sustainability: from strategy to action

One of the central axes of the participation has been the concept of “Real Sustainability”, an approach based on tangible, measurable progress aligned with the regulatory context.

This approach is embodied in:

  • Advances in the recyclability of solutions
  • Promoting circularity through the use of recycled content
  • Reducing environmental impact through decarbonization

In addition, the solutions presented are designed to facilitate their integration into existing collection and recycling systems, contributing to the construction of a more efficient and viable ecosystem on an industrial scale.

“At Emsur we work to anticipate new consumer trends and market demands, developing solutions that combine sustainability, efficiency and end-consumer appeal, without losing sight of the industrial viability of our customers,” adds Zarina Djikaeva, Commercial Director of Emsur.

The success obtained in this edition of Interpack and the double award obtained reinforce the commitment of Coexpan and Emsur with the development of solutions that actively contribute to redefine the packaging standards at a global level.
